Nebraska Invitational Dance Festival

July 5 & 6, 2008

Dear Dancers

2007 has flown by, and we are looking forward to presenting our 4th invitational. This year, we have some exciting changes. We are adding professional competition categories, as well as more than doubling out top teacher prize money available. Minimum of over $8,000 for pros is offered, and if participation increases the way it did the past three years, we will add top teacher money by hundreds of dollars!!

We're very excited to have four top professionals as the adjudicators for the competition -- they will also be giving exhibition performances Saturday and Sunday nights. John Abrams and Lena Sidyelnikova are top American Rhythm and Show Dance competitors and Nathan Simler and Lecie McNees are American Smooth and Rhythm competitors and title holders.

This year, because of the College World Series, as well as the International Olympic swim trials, hotel availability was tricky, so we had to pick the 4th of July weekend, as opposed to our usual "middle of July dates". In addition, accommodations are at a premium, so out of town dancers should contact Holiday Inn at 888-465-4329, ASAP, to ensure rooms at the Holiday Inn. Refer to the Nebraska Invitational, when you make your reservation. Next year, we will be back on track, with plenty of rooms available. On the positive side, the Coco Key water Resort is a great way to enjoy the Jacuzzi, water slides, pools, food and drinks in the summer, when you are not competing.

All in all, this year is shaping up to be a wonderful event. Since we are a non-affiliated, truly independent social competition, we can offer a very relaxed, fun atmosphere in which to compete. With a large dance floor, Water Park attached to the hotel, inexpensive packages and entries, coupled with generous prize money available, we hope to create a fantastic experience for you all.

We have an exciting weekend planned for you, including the addition of a Professional Competition on Saturdays and Professional Couples in Cabaret on both Saturday and Sunday. Studio owners and dance professionals, please submit one check for all packages and entries, made payable to Nebraska Invitational. Entry and payment deadline is June 1, 2008. Late entries will not be published in the program. Please find the detailed brochures and entry forms for the event.

Best regards,

Kristoffer Shaw
